In Aluminum Series, Ventura reimagines the materiality of aluminum, crafting fantastical, crystal-cave-like forms that defy its industrial origins. Created during the COVID-19 lockdown, the work draws from at-home materials, channeling limitation into innovation. Through an interplay of shape, light, and reflection, the series reveals a luminous, unexpected side of aluminum's sculptural potential.
In Glitch Series, Ventura intentionally misuses the iPhone's panoramic camera function to distort everyday scenes into fragmented, corrupted-hard-drive-like images. Created in 2022, the work draws from Cubist language to offer a contemporary meditation on movement and perception through digital media. Through warped perspectives, shifting shadows, and layered depth, the series evokes an eerie disconnect where the familiar is made strange.
In Ghostly Apparitions (In Plastic), Ventura confronts the emotional aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic through ghost-like self-portraits, captured roaming dimly lit rooms. Created as a continuation of his lockdown-era work, the series replaces traditional blanket ghosts with translucent plastic sheeting — inviting interpretations of suffocation, concealment, and physical vulnerability. Through hazy reflections, tight framing, and the soft opacity of textured plastic, the images evoke a haunting stillness where the artist becomes both figure and phantom, present yet fading.
